Like many others, I'm trying the new release of iTunes for Windows. Compared to the old 2.8 Winamp I'm using, it loses in about all areas except user interface.

The playback volume is too low even with the preamplifiers set just a bit under distortion level, MP3 files sound "dull", the thing is using on average 75-80% of CPU time (on a 2.5Ghz Pentium IV with 512MB RAM) and, best of all, there are occasional pauses and skips in playback...

I don't know if hell actually freezed over, like they say, but my machine looks like is catching a serious cold. Deinstall and cleanup underway, next time Apple would better rewrite the QuickTime MP3 playback engine...
